The situation

The shop floor is not short of data.
The data still moves by hand

Most plants already run an ERP or production system. The CNC control holds status, counts, alarms and load; the PLC holds IO and process points. What is missing is not data but an automatic path from where it is produced to where it is used: that stretch is still covered by people walking, copying, typing and summarizing.

01

Lost timeliness

Manual reporting creates a delay between an incident and management awareness. Downtime causes may only become clear after the opportunity to intervene has passed.

02

Inconsistent definitions

Different shifts and reports calculate the same metric differently. OEE, utilization and downtime become difficult to compare or use consistently in performance reviews.

03

No traceability

Records lack links to the equipment, time, program and personnel involved. Reconstructing an incident requires searching scattered records and asking staff, often leaving gaps.

Machine data platform

Connect, manage and integratewith one machine data platform

The gateway handles device protocols and data differences; Bivrost Cloud provides centralized management and analytics. Gateway interfaces are available locally and remotely through the cloud for business systems, dashboards and AI applications.

Who it is for

For factory digitalization, and for developer integration

Manufacturers connect a shop floor at a time; software vendors ship their own products with the gateway as the device layer. Both use the same interfaces and the same data definitions.

Digitalization and equipment leads

Connect equipment data to management and AI applications

Gateway plus Bivrost Cloud, delivered together: machine state, alarms, OEE and output flow into the platform automatically, and the repair–inspection–maintenance loop runs inside it. Factory AI ships with Bivrost Cloud; when you later add your own dashboards or another AI tool, they use the same interfaces — no second round of data collection.

  • Connection options for CNC machines, laser cutters, robots, PLCs and legacy equipment
  • Public cloud, private cloud and on-premises run the same code
  • Define the data definitions once; shifts, reports and AI all read the same one

The gateway as your device driver layer — integrate once, reuse across plants

Your product should not need a new driver for every machine brand in every plant. The gateway standardizes data from CNC machines, laser cutters, robots and PLCs so applications can use consistent interfaces and data definitions. At a new site, configure gateways for the equipment and reuse existing integration logic.

  • Five northbound channels on gateway and cloud alike: HTTP, MQTT, MODBUS, direct database write, MCP
  • Up to 255 machines per gateway on one LAN

Serving manufacturing across industries

Bivrost supports equipment connectivity and data management across automotive manufacturing, precision medical devices, construction machinery and university laboratories.

Partner

Hexagon

Precision metrology and industrial digitalization

Machine tool brands are many and their protocols all differ. Adapting to each system in-house would have cost Hexagon heavily in money and delivery time. Bivrost pushed multi-brand machine communication down into a single gateway, reducing protocol integration work for Hexagon’s data platform.

Collection and enterprise integration

The shop runs many machine types, much of it old. A standardized Bivrost gateway collects across all of them and feeds the enterprise systems, making downtime and maintenance cost visible.

A customized rollout of the Bivrost Cloud equipment management modules: scan-to-report repairs, low-stock alerts on spares, three-tier maintenance checklists — all on one data foundation. Production, maintenance and quality teams work together in one place, with around 1,000 repair work orders a month (Shenzhen site, 60 machines; excludes inspection exceptions).

Tool-life management based on equipment data

Running tools too long caused quality issues, changing them early wasted consumables, and fault response was manual. The Bivrost TMS module drives tool-change decisions from live machine data — quality, cost and response time improved together.
